The new Vipassana Center, Dhamma arunachala in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin as taught by Sayagyi S.N.Goenka will be established in Tiruvannamalai, Tamilnadu, India. aruna means powerful radiance and Achala means firm, unshakeable. Dhamma arunachala means powerful radiance and Unshakeableness of Dhamma. For many millennia, this mountain has warmly welcomed seekers of Wisdom. This Wisdom hill has been the abode of many sages and saints from time immemorial. During the first Buddha Sasana this place which formed part of the holy Kanchipuram zone supported Buddha Dhamma. Many Dhamma Messengers like Ven Bodhi Dhamma, Ven Anirrudha etc have helped to establish Dhamma in South East Asia and East Asia.
Dhamma arunachala is to be developed on a 6.75 acres land that was donated by a Vipassana Meditator. The land is in a plain terrain with supportive soil for Construction and Gardening. Water sources are adequately available. The place is suitable for deep meditation and is isolated from any habitats or industries. The plan is to construct Main Dhamma Hall, Medium Dhamma Hall, Mini Dhamma Hall, Pagoda, Male Residences, Female Residences, Kitchen and Dining Hall in phases of development. Start-up phase will develop the center to support Single Gender courses for 25 people. Phase I will develop the center to support Male-Female Courses for 50 people. Phase II will develop the center to support courses for 100 people. During Phase III, Pagoda will be developed.
